The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg By Martha Stewart

Okay, I do have to say I may have egg on my face!

After doing more research after recently posting "How To Boil Eggs So They Peel Easily" and having a Friend and loyal Reader make the recipe, and not be able peel the eggs! I ran a few more tests.

I tried one recipe that we all know is "always perfect"! From no other than Martha Stewart!

So here we are I am sharing The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg recipe by Martha Stewart! I made the eggs this morning and it worked!

However, please pay attention that she states: room temperature eggs!

Ingredients

Makes 1 dozen

  • 12 large eggs, room temperature

Directions

  1. Place eggs in a large saucepan. Cover them with cool water by 1 inch. Slowly bring water to a boil over medium heat; when the water has reached a boil, cover and remove from heat. Let sit 12 minutes.
  2. Transfer eggs to a colander; place under cool running water to stop the cooking. Eggs can be peeled and served immediately. Remaining eggs, with shells on, may be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Healthy Heart Smart Oatmeal For Breakfast

Are you looking for a healthier version of breakfast for you or your children? Well it's probably sitting in your cupboard as you are sitting here reading this post.

Oatmeal

Yes the Old Fashion Oats that you use for cookies! Forget the little flavored packages that need 1/2 cup of hot water. Have you read the ingredients in those? You may want to. Oatmeal has so many health benefits as well as keeping you fuller longer.

I make Old Fashion Oats for my kids. Make per instructions on the box. That Simple.

Here is Karen B's recipe:

Ingredients:

1 Cup Old Fashion Oats (not instant)
2 Cups Water
1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
Tiny pinch of Salt (optional)
Pat of Butter
Honey

Bring water to a boil, add Oats and reduce heat to low, add cinnamon and vanilla. Stir. Cover and cook five minutes until Oats are tender but not mushy.

Ladle into serving bowls, top with a pat of butter and locally grown honey ;)

You can also add raisins, nuts and berries.

Tip: Purchasing locally harvested honey is very important. It is known to help with seasonal allergies because the bees harvest honey from flowers in your area. If your area has orange blossoms your local honey bees will produce honey with from the orange blossoms which is a benefit to you.

If you purchase honey from California and you live in Michigan the honey won't help. Purchasing honey locally will also help your local economy.

Enjoy ;)

Grease your skillet and pour batter into pan. When you see bubbles on the edges and in the middle that means your ready to turn.

Flip it over and cook for about the same amount of time.

Hint: the first pancake is aways the dud! Make sure your pan is nice and hot.

Serve with syrup and whippy (whip cream)

Cinnamon French Toast

Easy Cinnamon French Toast is great for Sunday morning breakfast or brunch! I make this easy recipe and have for a long time. The kids love it!

Recipe makes four slices. You can easily double or triple this recipe, do not double the salt!

Ingredients:
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/3 C Milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Tiny pinch of Salt
  • 4 slices Whole Wheat Bread (thick cut French bread, or white will work also)
  • For the Holidays I add a dash of Nutmeg!

Like I stated in my profile, I tend not to measure things, you can get the feel for it after you have made this more than once. You may like more Cinnamon or Vanilla :)

Whisk 2 Eggs in a small bowl, add milk, Cinnamon, Vanilla and Salt.

Dip the Whole Wheat bread on both sides, place in preheated, oiled skillet or griddle. Cook over medium high heat until browned on both sides. Serve with Butter, Syrup and some whip cream! Or sprinkle with Powdered Sugar.

You can make this up ahead of time, place in a zip lock freezer bags and keep in the freezer for school days! Just remove from freezer and pop into your toaster! Top with butter and syrup.

Enjoy!
