  • Prepare your salad as shown here.
  • Take some scissors and cut the end off the tube of Goat Cheese
  • While holding over the salad or dish, take a dinner fork and dig out the Goat Cheese in a shredding motion.
  • The Goat Cheese will fall onto the salad in perfect pieces with out getting your hands or knife messy!

How To Arrange A Quick And Easy Cheese Board Appetizer

I think one of the easiest Appetizer's or Hourdouve' for a get together or party is the old stand by..... The Cheese Board!

You can do this 1/2 hour before your guests arrive and it really only takes five minutes to do.

You will need three types of cheese to put together your cheese board. You will need a soft cheese, a mild cheese and a sharp cheese.

Here we have taken some green Kayle and arranged around the board (I used my granite here) Then add tons and tons of grapes, red and green or just one color.

If you have large wedges of cheese cut them in 1/2 like I have here. I purchased my wedges from Costco they have larger wedges for larger parties and offer a better price than your local gourmet shops.

For my cheese board today I choose a Cheddar, Manchego and Goat Cheese. The Manchego is one of my favorites.

I put the Goat Cheese log into the freezer to firm up a few minutes and then cut the log into about two inch pieces. Then I rolled them into chopped chives and a couple in dried Italian herbs. You can also use chopped nuts, dried fruit anything be creative ;)

You might also want to add some sliced apples, pears and strawberries. Be sure to soak the slices in some lemon water to prevent the apples from turning brown.

Your cheese should sit out about 1/2 hour to reach room temp for the best flavor.

To get your board going because it looks so great, take your cheese knifes and start a couple of the wedges by slicing off a couple chunks and leave where they fall. This helps your guests get over the fear of making that first slice.

As you can see it will not take long for them to dig in! Cheese is always a big hit so skip the little one inch squares with tooth picks and create your own master piece. It will be beautiful and is a ton easier to do. You will definitely impress ;)

Enjoy

Cheese Class: English Hollow Wisconcin Aged Cheddar Cheese

I recently had a ladies clothing party at my home. I put out some fruit, cheese wedges, a artichoke jalapeno cheese dip, a strawberry cheese dip, my favorite crackers and some wine of course.

Being so busy getting ready I forgot to take a photo for all of you! Errrrrrrr!

Anyway, back to the point of the post. I happened to pick up a wedge of cheddar that I wanted to try. Something new. It happened to be English Hollow Wisconsin Aged Cheddar Cheese. Oh my! I love it! I would have to say good bye to my old stand by. All the ladies raved and with it sitting next to a Manchego, a Irish white cheddar infused with red wine, oh and the warm brie with raspberry sauce and pine nuts that as a matter of fact is still sitting in my oven (I just realized this while writing, having warmed it up turning off the oven and yes FORGETTING about it until now!) all my fav's.

This aged cheddar is so smooth yet with a mild sharp bite, not over whelming at all just perfect with the Kirkland Sonoma Chardonnay and the Me'nage a' Trois California red wine I served. Make a note both wines under $10.

My Family loves chips and cheese for snacks. My Husband and my Son just came in for a mid day break from playing football on the XBox and wanted chips and cheese. I grabbed the chips, shredded some of the English Hollow Cheddar on top and popped it in the microwave for 30 seconds and walla! Instant chips and cheese pipping hot!

No processed cheese here. Once you leave that behind you never go back.

Happy Cooking ;)
